Mary Eileen McDonnell was born on April 28, 1952, and is a stage actor. She has received the Academy Award nod for the part she was on Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Apart from this character McDonnell is known for her portrayal of Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) as the spouse of the president on Independence Day as well as her main role in the film as Donnie Darko's mother.
